Gala
Ninth Anniversary Picnic
Houston Sheltie Sanctuary, Inc.
Nov 4, 1998 - Nov 4, 2007
Houston Sheltie Sanctuary's Ninth Anniversary was celebrated by adoptive homes and program volunteers at Bear Creek Park in Houston on a gorgeous Fall day. Program volunteers helped plan the events and made sure the foster dogs would be in attendance for adoptions. Many other volunteers assisted with set up of the tables, eBay items, foods, and Sheltie items for sale. Vickey volunteered her expertise in grooming Sheltie coats. Volunteers provided catered lunch, veggies, desserts, and drinks. Still more volunteers took pictures and made sure families were greeted and comfortable after their arrival, and helped clean up afterwards. Each year the picnics are bigger, and we now have so many families and dogs in attendance it is hard to estimate the number, but probably upwards of 150 families and dogs attended this year. Everyone had a wonderful time meeting new friends and greeting old friends. As always, the Shelties seem to know it is their day, and they shine with health, energy, happiness, and perfect behavior. We adopted several of our dogs into their forever homes and have interest in several others; we look forward to all of our dogs getting their forever homes.
